A letter written to Ms. Rachel Notley, Edmonton-Strathcona
My name is Sue Derkat. The matter I wish to discuss with you is regarding Subsidized Housing for the Mentally and Physically impaired. Why is it that the gov't is not addressing this issue, but are saying they are trying to cut out the homelessness in Edmonton, AB? Myself, as well as four others, living at CTD Realty, are currently receiving Capital Region Housing Subsidy but are now being told that our subsidy will end at the end of Dec. 2011, because the gov't is not continuing the program. WHY are they not deciding to continue the program???? What is one supposed to do while receiving only $1188 a month, from Aish, how is one to afford to live elsewhere without subsidy???? Why is the program not to be continued, what with the cost of living and food and utilities and all????? No one seems to want to address this matter???? What are we to do and where to go........on the street?? Please Help??? Any information would help as to which direction to take. We only have three months to give notice........
