Read Letter - A Positive Experience ... and Plea for Continuity
By Joan Blench
Written Jan. 23, 2010
A letter written to Mr. Frank Oberle, Peace River
Dear Frank, Two weeks ago my mom fell and broke her hip. She was sent by ambulance to Grimshaw, then Grande Prairie for surgery, and two days later back to Peace River. Her recovery has been slow because of her Multiple Sclerosis and she will probably be in the Peace River Hospital for a few more days. We are all very impressed by the care she has received. The nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other hospital staff have been cheerful and helpful, even though I can see they are very, very busy. Please do whatever you can to help maintain our Health Care service so that excellence in Alberta is the norm. We have had so many cuts to Education and Health Care in the past. I understand that resources are limited, but we need to support our professionals so that they can do their jobs efficiently to help all Albertans. We shouldn't settle for mediocrity. I hope the provincial government will invest in, not cut, our public services.
