Read Letter - My vote relies on your actions

A letter written to Mr. Fred Horne, Edmonton-Rutherford
I'd like to let you know that if there are cuts to public services in this budget - cuts to healthcare, long-term care, seniors care, infrastructure, education, or cuts to programs to protect the environment - I will not be voting for you in Edmonton Rutherford. I think it needs to be said this plainly, because it seems any other way the message gets lost (and has gotten lost in the past). If the provincial government is to give in to pressure from the right of the political spectrum, then the future health of our society (and your party) is at risk. Please do not make short-term sacrifices for political gain, only to create larger social problems in the long term. Study after study has proven that a strong public service and investment in public infrastructure is the best way to keep our businesses competitive and our local communities thriving. I have not forgotten the dreadful cuts in the 1990s, effects of which we are still recovering from. Please, do not repeat those mistakes. I ask you to speak out publicly, and immediately, in defense of strong public services in Alberta, and denounce any possible cuts now or in the future. Will you do this? If you do, I would be proud to vote for you again. If you don't, we will know you do not have the courage, nor the vision, to be the representative of this community, and no longer worthy of our votes.
