Read Letter - Public Services
By Elaine Durand
Written Mar. 10, 2010
A letter written to Ms. Alana DeLong, Calgary-Bow
Dear Alana; It's time for a new approach to public services. We need our representatives to recognize that the old approaches taken in the past have not served our province or communities well. Now that the past approaches have proven unsuccessful it's time to work with the people of this province/communities for a new fresh approach to public service. The profession of people who work with people with developmental disabilities has been lost in the past 15 years. It needs to be rebuilt because the field needs professionally trained people who can do more than just meet basic needs. The cuts are mean spirited when a government will pick on a particular group ( mentally disabled ) to reduce services and even not provide basic services. It is shameful. The time to change is now. The people of this province are going to demand it. Take the first step and work with the community service agencies in good faith for the betterment of all of it's citizens.
